English Subject Expert

In this workshop, the key aspects and areas for parents to look out for in the transition years of P1, 3 5 & 6 will be covered. Topics include time management and coping with the demands of formal assessments at the various levels.
Maths Subject Expert
​
The speaker with 15 years of experience, in MOE schools teaching and MOE HQ in curriculum development will be sharing with parents important areas to look out for in mathematics learning. She will also point out key areas of concerns which parents should be aware of and how parents can support their children.
Science Subject Expert
​
The new science syllabus implemented has given many parents cause for concern on how their children can be supported in the learning of science from Primary 3 as a new subject and in the key transition year of Primary 5 leading to the PSLE. The speaker will be sharing on changes and some critical areas to look out for while supporting their children.
Keynote Speakers
Dr Phyllis Chew
Linguist and Educator
Dr Phyllis Chew was a tenured professor at the National Institute of Education for over three decades before her retirement in Dec 2019. She specializes in learner and teaching strategies. She is the author of several textbooks used in both primary and secondary schools locally and abroad
​
She is past president of the English Language and Literature Teachers’ Association of Singapore, the Association of Women for Action and Research and the University Women’s Association of Singapore. A recipient of the National Council of Social Services Distinguished Long Service Award, she gives time to worthy charities and causes.
Dr Chew is currently a consultant and adjunct faculty at the Singapore University of Social Sciences and Nanyang Technological University.
Mr Victor Pok, co-founder of PAL-Learning, was formerly the co-founder of the Litespeed group of education companies prior to founding Viva Kids Pte Ltd. ​The companies were involved in the provision of education services and technology solutions.
These included e-learning assessments as well as profiling and management solutions sold to regional public education sector markets in the 2000s before going public in 2005.
He is a Physical Education and English teacher by training and co-authored a MOE-approved Primary School English Textbook, In-step.
Victor Pok
Co-Founder of PAL Learning
An experienced English teacher with more than 25 years in the teaching service, Ms Lee has served in top primary schools as HOD.
During her service, she headed her school's curriculum review to integrate strategies for effective and engaged development for teaching of the English language. As part of the Education Techology Division (MOE HQ), she worked with school principals to implement technology in the classroom to strengthen pupil engagement.
She currently helms KidsExcel academic department as its HOD, and oversees curriculum development and professional training of tutors.
Lorinda Lee

Liu Yueh Mei
Maths Subject Expert
Liu Yueh Mei is an experienced educator, teacher trainer and coach in curriculum studies, pedagogy and assessment. She holds a Master in Education (MEd) with NIE/NTU, Singapore and a Master of Arts in Education (MA) with Stanford University, USA.
She served almost 15 years with MOE as Head of the Math Department in schools as well as in MOE HQ as a Curriculum Planner and Developer. During her time with MOE HQ, she was involved in curriculum designs and reviews, pedagogy and assessment policies, and developers of the Singapore Math Framework and Curriculum.
She founded and is currently running an EdTech startup with 2 products; iMath app - an on-demand math homework help matching platform, and HeyHi - an online platform with video conferencing and an interactive collaborative whiteboard.
Jason Chin
Science Subject Expert
Jason Chin is a teacher and education consultant. As a past finalist for the Outstanding Youth in Education Award (OYEA) among teachers in Singapore, he is recognised as a top classroom innovator and is sought after for his unique approach to teaching Science. Beginning as a teacher in 1994, he was appointed as an academic dean at one of the country’s leading independent schools in 2004, transforming its Science curriculum for the needs of the integrated programme.

His students have characterised his teaching style as being anywhere on a spectrum ranging from wacky to conventional, showing that he readily adapts his lessons to ensure that every student will excel in his classes.
​
In the private education sphere, Jason and his team of specialist consultants at Collingwood Associates advise educational institutions in the burgeoning Southeast Asian region on matters related to curriculum innovation, classroom assessment and school effectiveness. Operating out of Singapore, the firm counts established tertiary and private independent schools among its clients.
